About

Joseph Simhon was born in 1985 and grew up on construction sites alongside his father, developer and contractor David Simhon, in Montreal during the 1980s and 1990s before the family moved to Florida. From an early age, Joseph learned drafting and gained hands-on experience working on projects in Miami and Sunny Isles with his father and other relatives.

In 2006, he founded Nohmis, initially offering design and drafting services for contractors, designers, and owners while assisting his father’s remodeling business with plans, accounting, and project management. While studying business management at UCF, Joseph expanded his role, and by 2008 he was actively managing and designing projects with his father.

During the 2008 economic downturn, Joseph pursued a Civil Engineering degree at FAU, earning his Certified General Contractor’s license in 2011 and officially rebranding as Nohmis Design & Construction. He graduated in 2012 as an Engineer Intern and has since completed over 250 residential and commercial projects in construction, renovation, design, and management.

Over the next decade, Joseph served as Structural Inspector for the Fort Lauderdale Airport Terminal 1 expansion and honed his skills in architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and structural design. In 2018, he became a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and began offering professional design services.

By 2019, with his father retiring and his own passion shifting away from day-to-day construction, Joseph transitioned Nohmis into a construction management firm. This new approach focused on representing owners and ensuring contractors delivered to Nohmis’ high standards.

Today, Joseph lives in Florida with his wife, their daughters, and Frankie, their energetic goldendoodle.
