Joseph Simhon basically grew up on job sites. Born in Montreal in 1985, he spent his childhood following his father, developer and contractor David Simhon, between projects in Montreal, Miami, and Sunny Isles, learning to draft before he learned to drive. That upbringing gave him something engineering school doesn’t teach: a contractor’s eye for how things actually get built, and a habit of finishing what he starts.
Twenty years ago he founded NOHMIS Design & Engineering. Today the firm handles structural engineering, architecture, MEP, seawall design, and inspections, and Joe still signs the drawings. He is a licensed Professional Engineer, but if you ask him what he’s proudest of, he’ll talk about the team before the projects.
Joe runs the firm on the belief that people do their best work when they’re given room to learn, trusted to think for themselves, and backed when they take a swing. Several of his designers have earned their licenses under his roof, and at least one of the firm’s practice areas started because a team member’s personal interest turned into a business idea he was willing to back.
When a project gets complicated or a deadline gets tight, Joe’s instinct is to slow things down, sort out what actually matters, and get everyone pointed the same direction again. He’s easy to talk to, quick with a dry joke, and hard to rattle.
Away from the office, Joe lives in Parkland with his wife and daughters. He’ll tell you being a girl dad is the best job he has, and that nothing puts a tough week in perspective faster than coming home to a house full of opinions. He’s also rarely without a project of his own at home, whether he’s fixing something, improving something, all sorts of home projects. He’s a proud husband, a present father, and the same steady guy at home as he is at work.
Every great team needs a steady hand at the wheel, and for us, that is Jackie. As our Operations Manager, she serves as the operational backbone of the company and the trusted voice of our team. Working hand in hand with Joe, she bridges high-level strategy and flawless execution, maintaining seamless oversight across every lead, project, and closed deal from start to finish.
Known for her calm demeanor and sharp focus under pressure, Jackie is the anchor that keeps us grounded amidst fast-paced priorities. Whether she is tackling granular budget details, championing the team’s needs, or guiding clients through complex situations, her steady command elevates our work and keeps our standards high. Jackie does not just manage operations, she keeps the whole engine running with peak precision and brings out the best in everyone around her.
Kyle Tevis is a project manager, licensed building inspector, and architectural and MEP designer with experience in design, construction, inspections, and field coordination. He specializes in overseeing projects, coordinating design teams, conducting field site inspections, and preparing accurate construction documents for architectural, MEP, structural, seawalls, docks, and concrete restoration projects. As a boater, Kyle has a personal appreciation for waterfront structures, making seawall and dock projects both a professional specialty and a personal passion.

Carolina Martinez is a Senior Architectural and MEP Designer with experience in residential and commercial projects. She specializes in functional design, 3D modeling, and the development of architectural and MEP construction plans from concept through completion. She enjoys creating innovative, integrated design solutions that balance functionality, efficiency, and adaptability while coordinating seamlessly across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
Katherine is an Architectural Designer with experience in residential and commercial projects. She specializes in developing construction drawings, permit sets, and Revit models, helping transform design concepts into accurate documentation for city review and permitting. She enjoys continuously learning and developing new skills that contribute to her professional growth and the success of her team.
Isabella is a Junior Designer with a passion for computational design and sustainability. She supports the organization through her experience reviewing permits, conducting inspections, and drafting. Outside of work, she enjoys drawing, sculpting, and creating models, bringing an innovative perspective to the team.

Fleur is the Administrative Assistant who supports the company’s operations while assisting the marketing team with content coordination and brand initiatives. She helps keep projects organized, manages administrative tasks, and contributes to the development of marketing materials. With a collaborative and supportive approach, Fleur enjoys helping the team wherever she’s needed and contributing to the company’s continued success.
When she’s not in front of her computer, you’ll most likely find her exploring the deep blue as a freediver, embracing the calm, challenge, and adventure that come with life beneath the surface.
