Seawall Repair & Rehabilitation Design – Luxury Waterfront Residence

Seawalls & Docks, Structural Engineering

Project: Seawall Repair & Structural Rehabilitation
Location: Highland Beach, Florida
Size: ~70 LF waterfront seawall

Provided structural engineering design and permit-ready drawings for the repair and rehabilitation of an existing residential seawall in a coastal environment. The project focused on addressing concrete deterioration, marine exposure damage, and drainage deficiencies to extend the service life of the structure.

Developed repair solutions for cracked and spalled concrete across seawall caps, precast panels, king piles, and batter piles. Scope included removal of deteriorated concrete, restoration and supplementation of reinforcing steel, epoxy anchoring, and placement of structural repair materials in accordance with ACI standards.

Designed timber pile repair systems using snap jackets to address marine decay, along with evaluation criteria to guide repair versus replacement decisions in the field. Integrated new drainage through core-drilled jet filters to relieve hydrostatic pressure and reduce future wall distress.

Plans were developed with a strong focus on constructability and field coordination, accounting for unknown subsurface and underwater conditions. The final design provided clear repair procedures, inspection requirements, and contractor guidance to support efficient execution during construction.
